It's the first weekend of December! Time to shop, decorate, buy a Christmas tree, wrap gifts and so much more. It's all happening so fast. But don’t stress out, December should be a time for family fun. Here is a quick list of a few awesome events taking place near your apartment this weekend. Show up to one and get into the holiday fun.
9 a.m.-noon — Home Depot Workshop: “How to Build a Gingerbread Man Candy Dish”
This free workshop helps kids building a gingerbread man at the Home Depot on 22855 Victory Blvd. The little ones get to keep their creations and even get a free apron.
9 a.m.-3 p.m. — The West Valley Christian Church presents a Holiday Boutique: Located at 22450 Sherman Way, the church will present a mini holiday festival with a bake sale, crafts vendors, books, raffles and other items.
10 a.m. — Lowe’s Christmas ornaments workshop: If Honed Depot isn’t your thing, stop by Lowes for this FREE ornaments workshop. The hardware store will provide kits and teach kids how to make holiday ornaments. 8383 Topanga Canyon Blvd

The weekends can get pretty boring if you don’t have a plan. And if you have children, you know how restless they can be. For those people looking for some weekend fun near their Woodland Hills apartment, here is a quick look at a few awesome events happening this Saturday and Sunday in your neighborhood.
Saturday, Nov. 5
8:30 a.m. — An all female exercise group meets every Saturday at the West Valley Christian Church, 22450 Sherman Way, West Hills.
8:30-9:30 a.m. — Julie Segovia Rowland instructs a yoga group at the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 23838 Kittridge St. The classes are free but donations are requested (also please come dress appropriately).
9 a.m.-noon — Home Depot Veterans Day workshops for kids ages 5-12 located at 22855 Victory Blvd., West Hills.
Sunday, Nov. 6
2 a.m. — Do not forget to set your clocks back with Daylight Savings Time ends this Sunday morning.
10 a.m.-5 p.m. — Dia De Los Muertos family festival presented by The Canoga Park/West Hills Chamber of Commerce. The event takes place on Sherman Way between Canoga Avenue and Topanga Canyon Boulevard. For more details: (818) 884-4222.
