You jump in the shower to get clean, but did you know that not only is their soap scum, but there is the potential of mold, mildew and millions of germs.  Yuck, follow these tips to keep your shower clean and germ free.

• Start with the shower head. Place vinegar in a bag and fasten it to the shower head with an elastic.  Make certain that the entire head is covered and leave overnight.
• Plastic shower curtains, liners and shower doors harbor mold, mildew and more. Replace your plastic shower curtain and liner often.  You can also wash them with regular detergent and a few towels which help rid them of soap scum and mildew.  Clean your shower door with a paste made of white vinegar and baking soda.  Apply it directly to the door with a thick coating.  Let it sit for an hour or so and then rub it clean with a microfiber cloth or squeegee.
• Scrub your grout to keep mold and mildew out. Grout is a semi porous material and a great home for mold and mildew.  Clean it often using commercial cleaning products or a homemade mixture of baking soda and vinegar.  For more stubborn mildew products you may need to use a chlorine bleach or oxygen bleach product.
• Clean your faucets. Be sure to clean your faucets regularly, make sure you clean them with the faucet in varying positions.  Use an old soft tooth brush or floss to get under the faucet’s surface.
• Clean your drain. Each day the drain is subject to soap, hair and more.  Be sure to clean it regularly using a drain cleaning product or use equal amounts of baking soda and vinegar to clean the drain.  Pour the baking soda in the drain, follow with vinegar, let it fizzle and then pour boiling hot water in the drain.  It is also recommended that you remove the drain basket several times a year to remove hair and other germ spreading particles.
